Kollektion: RODRIGO LOMBARDO

An artist born in Chile, currently based in Sweden, after having moved to Spain to study art and design. His work draws from the rich Spanish pictorial tradition, taking inspiration from masters such as Goya, Velázquez, Saura, and Barceló, as well as from British figures like Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud. His practice unfolds along two main lines: one figurative, focused on classical and traditional painting, and another more experimental, where abstraction becomes a space for visual exploration. In this latter approach, he acknowledges the influence of Roberto Matta, the Chilean surrealist painter, along with artists such as Willem de Kooning and Robert Motherwell. He works with a wide range of techniques oil, acrylic, and spray paint expanding the boundaries of pictorial language. He also has a strong interest in ceramics, exploring through it new ways to materialize the relationship between gesture, matter, and emotion.
