Collection: Sofia Hjelm

Sofia is a ceramic artist and architect based in Malmö. She has studied at Lund University and Östra Grevie Folk High School, and she is a member of the ceramic collective workshop, Artibus Malmö.

Sofia adores clay as a material for its tactility and hands-on malleability. She often leaves parts of the surface unglazed, creating a beautiful contrast between the raw, fired clay and the glossy glazed surface. Her artistic language is sometimes strict, but other times entirely organic, drawing inspiration from animals and nature. It is this organic and bodily aspect that inspired her collection of four vases and a candlestick for Cay collective in the spring of 2023.
